No more preconceived ideas that it is not possible to surf in the Winter!
Of course, the water remains cold. We are not here to lie to you. It can come close to 10 degrees in Biarritz from January to March. However, the surfing equipments are more and more adapted to a winter practice.
Wetsuits are nowadays very well made. They are lined with fleece, made of more and more flexible materials and new sewing systems make them completely waterproof; all for your greatest comfort!
Billabong, Quiksilver, Roxy, Rip Curl, Picture, Surface… all these brands will offer you high quality wetsuits!
For those who get cold very easily, don’t panic! You can wear booties (that we put under the suit, not over it), and hoods.
Well sure, don’t look too much at your style, but as long as you stay dry and warm it does not matter so much, don’t you think?
There will be some skeptics left…. And that’s good! Because surfing in winter means less people in the water, and that gives us a real good reason to jump in.
The waves are also punchier, and therefore more fun. And, between two storms, there often are some beautiful days of offshore wind magnified by a cloudless sky.
